The Institute of Company Lawyers is the professional body for the regulated profession of company lawyer ("bedrijfsjurist"/"juriste d’entreprise") in Belgium, established by the Law of 1 March 2000. In an evolving globalized business and legal environment, the Institute aims to be the beacon for company lawyers in their crucial role of business partner and legal advisor. The Institute closely follows the trends in the profession. As a knowledge center, we are both an antenna and a sounding board for our members. To this end, we organize numerous trainings and webinars to contribute to the quality of the profession, through our Permanent Education program. The Institute also determines the code of ethics of the profession and monitors compliance with it. This is important since company lawyers are legally bound and protected by the confidentiality of their legal advice, which has a significant impact on their company’s business.
