Founded in 1929, Camp Ho Mita Koda is the oldest camp for children ages 4-17 with diabetes. Surrounded by 72 wooded acres in Newbury, OH, just 25 miles east of Cleveland, children with diabetes learn lifelong wellness habits in a supportive, active environment.Programs are specially designed for campers to self-manage their diabetes through personal responsibility, healthy choices and a life-long network of friends. Camp programs include high and low-ropes courses, swimming in our lake or heated pool, arts & crafts, canoeing, climbing wall, archery, horseback riding, team sports and more.Camp Ho Mita Koda's top priority is the health and well-being of its campers through round-the-clock care and supervision. An On-site trained medical team oversees the diabetes management of each camper. A registered dietitian plans meals and snacks. Camp Ho Mita Koda is proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association, complying with 300 national health, safety and program quality standards.
