The GasFields Commission Queensland is an independent statutory body established to manage and improve relationships between rural landholders, regional communities and Queensland's onshore gas industry.
The Commission’s powers and functions are set out in the Gasfields Commission Act 2013 and include:
• Helping regional communities adapt to the introduction of natural gas development
• Providing tools to enable informed decision making
• Supporting best practice business to business relationships
• Continuing to improve industry practice by all involved
• Supporting respectful and balanced relationships in the gas fields
• Acting as the first point of contact for anything to do with natural gas in Queensland
• Compiling and distributing information about the gas industry
• Providing contact details to assist in finding more help if needed
The Commission's Board is made up of a chair and three members appointed for their skills and expertise in their respective fields.
