KVO is a Belgian football team which plays in the Jupiler Pro League. The club was founded in 1981 after the 2 Ostend teams, ASO and VGO, merged.
In 1993, KVO promoted for the first time to the First Division in Belgium. It finished on a surprising 7th place.
In 2013, KVO promoted for the 4th time in history to the highest Belgian level. Entrepreneur and fan Marc Coucke became president and since then the club is a contender for the big teams in Belgium. In 2016, KVO introduced the Versluys Arena, a totally renewed football stadium, on the same location of the old Albertparkstadium.
In the season 2016-2017, KVO qualified for the first time ever for European football. KVO played French giant Marseille in the qualifying rounds of the Europa League. In 2018 Marc Coucke left KVO and Peter Callant was introduced as new president of KVO.
In february 2019 Peter Callant decided to leave KV Oostende. Vice-president Frank Dierckens took over and was presented as the new president of KVO.
On the 15th of february 2020 the club announced Pacific Media Group as new owner of the club. Frank Dierckens will not be replaced as president.
