Sustain Plus Energy Foundation is a multi-stakeholder collaborative platform for sustainable energy access and poverty alleviation initiatives in India. Sustain Plus works at the intersections of sustainable development, poverty and energy access, to accelerate development action through decentralised renewable energy (DRE) solutions for livelihoods, health and education. Sustain Plus operates through a framework of technology scouting, problem-solution fit identification, and scale up and through its network of over 80 grassroots partners, reaches communities and individuals most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, including, small and marginal farmers, women and children in rural areas.
Sustain Plus combines a ‘community-centric’ approach towards problem identification and resolution, with the rigour of a ‘business model perspective’, to design and implement economically and operationally viable solutions, which are relevant and responsive to the real-world context. It also strengthens value chain ecosystems through the establishment of local processes for long term serviceability and sustainability of technology solutions deployed. By aligning with government efforts, Sustain Plus also facilitates communities to leverage benefits from available government schemes that complement and intensify the impact of its own interventions and programs.
Conceived and co-founded by Social Alpha, Selco Foundation and Collectives for Integrated Livelihoods Initiatives (CInI) in 2019, Sustain Plus is a leading effort to transform the fabric of climate action in India.. Over the last 3 years, Sustain Plus has implemented over 120 programs, in 4300+ villages, across 240 districts and 20 states in India, directly impacting over 2.8 lakh households and 14+ lakh lives.
