Te tōnuitanga i ngā pānga Māori i Tāmaki Makaurau
Advancing the interests of Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau
The Board works to improve Māori wellbeing and development for the benefit of all New Zealanders, particularly everyone who lives in or visits Tāmaki Makaurau. Established by legislation in 2010, the Board ensures Auckland Council takes the view of Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau (the Auckland region) into account when making decisions.
Under the legislation, our function is to help the council make decisions, perform functions and exercise power.
We achieve this by; promoting economic, environmental, cultural and social issues of significance to Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau and; ensuring council complies with statutory provisions referring to the Treaty of Waitangi
