The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) is a ministry of the Japanese government. METI has jurisdiction over a broad policy area, including Japan's economic & industrial policy, trade policy, energy security policy, intellectual property policy, industrial technology and innovation policy, control of arms exports, etc. METI is known for its liberal atmosphere and officials of METI have been well known for their excellence. It is commonly called "human resource agency" for its leaders of politics, business and academia.
