The Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarship (MFOS) assists historically low-income first-generation college students in meeting their college costs. First-generation in college is defined as neither of the student’s parents or legal guardians have earned a bachelor’s degree.
The MFOS program provides recipients a full grant and scholarship package to earn a bachelor’s degree at the University of Florida.
The MFOS Peer Mentor Program is great way to give back to the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program, gain leadership experience, and welcome new scholars to UF. All mentors are assigned approximately six incoming first-year MFOS students to mentor during their first year at UF. Peer mentors are trained and supported during the year but they are also expected to take initiative and meet the needs of their individually assigned six scholars.
