Hope Scarves is an international nonprofit organization based in Louisville, Kentucky with the mission to support people facing cancer through scarves, stories, and research.
Hope Scarf packages contain a scarf, survivor story, scarf tying instructions, and a personal note if received as a gift scarf. They can be requested for anyone in active treatment for any type of cancer, either as a personal request, gift request, or through a partnership location. When the Hope Scarf recipient is ready, they return the scarf and submit their own story, which is passed on to provide hope for someone else in active treatment. This has led to Hope Scarves being known as the Sisterhood of the Traveling Scarves.
Since our founding in 2012, nearly 30,000 Hope Scarves have been sent to people facing over 90 types of cancer in every state and 33 countries. The oldest recipient is 97 and the youngest only 10 months old. Recognizing the importance of research, Hope Scarves also invests a portion of each dollar raised in Metastatic Breast Cancer Research, donating over $925,000 to date.
