For over 40 years Gray Forklift Services is, and remains a family run business with a significant grounding in the North East of Scotland. The story started back in 1977 when Peter Gray, then working as an auto electrician, noticed a lucrative opportunity in the repairing of forklift trucks for the commercial sector. The discovery of oil in the North East around the same time saw Peter’s opportunity flourish, so much so, that he made the executive decision to form a company from the opportunity. ‘Gray Plant Hire’ focussing on hires and repairs of small plant and equipment. With the subsequent growth and expansion of the oil and gas sector in the North East, Gray Plant Hire enjoyed enormous success. It was these two promising factors which led Peter to decide only to concentrate on the forklift hire and sales market. As a result, he renamed the company ‘Gray Forklift Services’ - the company we know today. In 1994, the company’s success was solidified, as it was named the Mitsubishi Dealer for the North East of Scotland. Since then, Gray Forklift Services have picked up numerous awards including; for 3 consecutive years, UK Dealer of the Year in addition to receiving an Outstanding Achievement Award in 2011, declaring the firm as one the leading forklift truck companies in the UK today. It hasn't stopped there for Gray Forklift Services, when in 2014 were awarded the Customer Focus Award by the Forklift Truck Association.
