Western Nephrology began practice in 1968 serving Lutheran Medical Center and St. Anthony Central Hospitals. In 1973 the practice expanded to provide both inpatient and outpatient dialysis services in the West Denver Metropolitan Region.
Over the next 30 years outpatient dialysis centers were developed in Boulder, Arvada, Brighton, Lakewood, Longmont, and Westminster. In addition inpatient dialysis services were expanded to cover 8 hospitals and 2 rehabilitation hospitals in the Northwest Denver Metropolitan and Boulder area counties. Currently Western Nephrology provides consultative services and inpatient dialysis services to Boulder Community Hospital, Lutheran Medical Center, Good Samaritan Medical Center, Longmont United Hospital, North Suburban Medical Center, Vibra Hospital, Denver Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, St. Anthony North Hospital, and Long’s Peak Hospital.
Western Nephrology partners with Innovative Renal Care as medical directors and attending physicians at 8 regional dialysis clinics as well as a home dialysis program that provides for both home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
The practice currently includes 15 board certified nephrologists, and 15 Advanced Practitioners, with clinics in Arvada, Lakewood, Lafayette, Longmont and Westminster. The Research Department is housed in our Arvada Office. Our administrative office is located in Wheat Ridge and provides credentialing, financial support, and information systems support to the practice.
