Sycamore Trust U.K. aim to offer a range of services specifically designed to support families with one or more members on the autistic spectrum, to educate the community and raise awareness of autism spectrum disorder and to empower individuals of all ages to flourish and be valued members of society.
The Sycamore Trust operates within the east London boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge providing a range of programmes and courses designed to help individuals on the autistic spectrum and enable their families to understand. We also support adults with learning difficulties.
Our programmes focus on building confidence and social skills, leading to improved self esteem and reducing the likelihood of isolation later in life.
There are over 700,000 people on the autistic spectrum in the UK, and 2.8m people are in a family where one or more of their family members is on the spectrum. It is a spectrum disorder which means that no two people with autism are the same. It is a hidden disability and cannot be cured.
The Sycamore Trust also provides CPD accredited autism awareness training, and unlike many similar training programmes, it is delivered by young people on the autistic spectrum, with a unique insight into how to approach the subject. Please get in touch if you feel that your workforce would benefit from being more autism aware, or if you are a B2C business and want to ensure that you are providing the best possible service for your autistic customers.
