Seacology is an international environmental nonprofit organization that focuses on saving endangered species, habitats and cultures of islands throughout the world.
Indigenous people are all too often faced with the dilemma of choosing between protecting their precious natural resources, and economic development. Seacology searches for win-win situations where both the local environment is protected and islanders receive some tangible benefit for doing so.
Seacology's unique community-led approach to conservation has been widely recognized for its impact and innovation. The organization was awarded the 2024 Lipman Family Prize by the University of Pennsylvania at the Wharton School of Business, the 2018 United Nations Momentum for Change climate action award, and the 2015 Prince’s Prize for Innovative Nonprofits from Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, among many other recognitions. Seacology was also nominated for the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize.
