The ChiMOP mission is to affect positive social change in youth and families with limited access to the arts by providing a safe and fun environment for them to make music in pursuit of artistic excellence together with peers and positive adult role models. Chicago Metamorphosis Orchestra Project is a 501c3 tax-exempt charitable organization. ChiMOP provides several social and educational initiatives in the form of multifaceted community youth orchestra projects throughout the city. Currently ChiMOP operates two programs: a daily el-sistema inspired school partnership program at Mary Lyon Elementary School in the Cragin neighborhood and a touring summer youth orchestra based in the Albany Park neighborhood. These projects are unique to the communities served and employ the exceptionally talented professional teaching artists living in these communities as faculty and staff. All ChiMOP programs are completely free to all participants.
