From April 2017 to September 2020 Energy Efficiency Alberta was the province’s expert on saving energy. The agency delivered energy efficiency and renewable energy programs and services to help Albertans save energy, reduce emissions and become more competitive. Supporting businesses, industrial facilities, public institutions and households, Energy Efficiency Alberta generated more than $952 million in economic growth, avoided 6.8 million tonnes of GHGs, and created $806 million in energy savings and emissions reductions across the province.
Energy efficiency remains an important part of the government’s plan to reduce costs and cut carbon. Some of Energy Efficiency Alberta’s programs have been transitioned to other entities.
