The Dukeries Academy is a unique and special place. In the words of Ed Balls (as the then Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families), “This is really the kind of school we would like to see right across the country. I call it the 21st Century School. It’s really pulsating at the heart of the community and it is ambitious for every child and young person to do well. It’s brilliant to see!”
We became an academy in January 2013, sponsored by the Academy Transformation Trust. We are committed to educating the ‘whole person’. Therefore, in addition to providing a broad and balanced academic curriculum, we offer a huge range of extra activities and opportunities to our students.
This is made possible through the impressive commitment of our staff and our extensive additional on-campus facilities including:
· Our Further Education College (Dukeries F.E.)
· A Public Library
· A Leisure Centre
· A Construction Centre
· A Young People’s Centre
· A Day Centre for Older People including a Care, Learning & Training Centre
· Children’s and Family Centres
· A working Farm unit and Enviro Centre
· A Community Workshop
· Riding Stables & Manège, including Riding for the Disabled
· The Whitewater Centre for Adults with learning disabilities
· A community Theatre and Concert Hall
· A Fire and Rescue Training Centre
