North Carolina Education Corps (NCEC) envisions a nation, starting in North Carolina, where all students have the educational support they need to thrive.
Our vision is supported by a motivated, growing community of champions for students who advance outcomes and unlock their potential through high-impact tutoring. At NCEC, we mobilize and empower an untapped local workforce of caring adults such as parents, caregivers, retired teachers, instructional assistants, and college students, who want to make a difference by engaging in high-impact tutoring.
In our first three years: 1,265 total tutors hired and trained and 22,000+ total students served. We support our corps members with best-in-practice training, the latest in data-informed and research-based tutoring methodologies, and ongoing monitoring and assistance as needed.
NCEC empowers adults who want to make a difference in their community by connecting them with nearby schools. Each year, corps members receive effective training, then help students through high-impact tutoring, a method shown to accelerate student learning.
Driven by data, we monitor progress to hone our methods. Then we do it again. In more communities, and more schools. The result is educational excellence through an engaged community, a growing movement of champions who help unlock student potential, and who ultimately, strengthen the communities they call home.
