Secret Cinema creates ‘worlds’ that turn films and music into real life, large-scale cultural experiences. The location and details of each experience are never revealed and the film title is often kept secret. More than 550,000 people have attended Secret Cinema’s worlds. The worlds vary from smaller experiences of a few thousand over a few nights to larger ones of up to 100,000 over several months.
Secret Cinema pioneered a revolutionary new format of entertainment for film that puts audiences at the heart of the narrative. It has evolved into a global box office revenue generating phenomenon: Secret Cinema has taken old classic films and put them back in the UK box office top 10 for consecutive weeks. In addition, it is changing the way films are released with its pre-release experiences, generating up to a third of opening weekend UK box office gross revenue.
Secret Cinema works with film studios and distributors, brands, musicians and artists, to turn their stories into exceptional, secret experiences.
The experiences are often hosted in abandoned buildings or outdoor spaces in areas in need of regeneration. Secret Cinema works closely with councils, authorities and communities to support these areas through engaging the community, attracting footfall and further investment.
Through its Secret Foundation, Secret Cinema has championed and raised funds for a number of charities such as Amnesty International, Mind, Help Refugees and Trussell Trust.
Secret Cinema recently launched its youth initiative, Secret Youth. This is the branch of Secret Cinema devoted to empowering young people from diverse communities to engage in culture and have a voice. It includes programs for workshops, work experience placements, mentorship, talks, special screenings and site tours.
Secret audiences. Secret locations. Secret worlds. Secret voices. Secret future.
