The FRDC is widely recognised as the leading Australian agency concerned with planning, funding and managing fisheries research and development.
The FRDC does not undertake research itself; rather it identifies research and development needs - and the means of addressing them - through a planning process and by contracting with research providers.
Stakeholders in the FRDC are the fishing industry; the governments of the Commonwealth, the states and the territories; and the people of Australia.
The FRDC acknowledge Australia’s Indigenous People who are the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respect to their Elders both past and present and extend that respect to all Indigenous People.
