The Calendar is a students for students business that builds community through on and offline experiences. We aggregate, showcase and promote the amazing things already happening in our community through our website and social media channels. Additionally, we host and collaborate on 25+ annual ticketed and free community events. Together we help more people find out what is happening around them, and inspire them to get involved.
Through strategic planning, powerful digital marketing, engaging social media, effective branding, professional photography, graphic design, videography, a dedicated HR team and an incredible team of staff and volunteers; The Calendar has permanently changed the student experience at UBC. The organization has become a household brand and continues to innovate and push the limits of what is possible for the student experience at UBC.
The Calendar is most notably responsible for helping increase attendance at UBC Homecoming from 3,000 to 9,600+ fans over the course of three years and co-creating the now annual sellout 5,000 person event at Thunderbird Arena, UBC Winter Classic. Other notable initiatives have included the recently globally broadcasted and shared 3000 person UBC snowball fight, UBC Hotline Bling Video Campaign, UBC Harlem Shake Video and The Calendar's dozens of annual sold-out event brands.
The Calendar's initiatives have been seen on and re broadcast by: Good Morning America, CBC's The National, Macleans Magazine, Buzzfeed, The Lad Bible, World Star, The Huffington Post, GQ, CTV, Global, The Georgia Straight, The Daily Hive, Exclaim Magazine, The Vancouver Sun and The Province Newspaper.
