Method Design is an integrated design shop that focuses on the notion of provocation to activate spatial, material and social dynamics as a network of action and reaction. Equally comfortable with apartment restoration and full-scale urban planning, Method Design applies a design approach that simultaneously draws upon and challenges the context of each project in the development of a new experiential condition.
The studio was founded in January of 2008 by Reese Campbell and Demetrios Comodromos, with the main office in New York City and a project office in Copenhagen, Denmark. Reese and Demetrios both have extensive backgrounds in internationally recognized architectural practices such as SHoP Architects and Grimshaw, in addition to intensive experiences in the field as builders, and in the classroom as professors. This range has translated into a variety of projects and roles in which Method Design engages. Our projects include redesign and renovations (for apartments, commercial spaces, and spa + health facilities), to new residential construction, to emergency civil and community planning, to urban design. Our work is built in diverse contexts such as New York City, Westchester County, New Jersey, Connecticut, Mississippi, and abroad. We currently perform the roles of designers, planners, construction managers, building sciences consultants, and educators. We have collectively taught at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Pratt Institute, and Cornell University.
