The AIDS Resource Foundation for Children (ARFC) is a 501c3 incorporated nonprofit organization based in New Jersey. ARFC's mission is to help individuals, children, and families who are impacted by HIV/AIDS or are faced with other social and health-related barriers to be resilient and to build healthier futures. Since 1985, ARFC has dedicated its programs and services to finding family-centered solutions to the problems associated with HIV/AIDS by providing comprehensive services to under-served communities in NJ where HIV is prevalent. For over 30 years, ARFC has met the changing needs of children and families affected by AIDS through the following programs: St. Clare’s Homes for Children (Jersey City, Elizabeth, and Neptune, NJ), 1987 St. Clare’s Homes were the first in the country to give abandoned HIV positive babies a loving home away from the hospital system. Today there are 3 Homes addressing the transitional needs of the most vulnerable medically fragile infants. St. Clare’s Social Services, 1990 Providing social services such as mental health support, medical care, substance-abuse prevention, support groups, and opportunities for families to meet and support each other in the community. St. Clare’s Housing Program, 1993 Providing supportive housing to people living with the HIV/AIDS. These affordable desirable homes help families provide the stability needed to live healthy lives. Academy Street Firehouse, 2002 Addressing the unique and varied mental/emotional/behavioral health needs of children impacted by HIV/AIDS through an after-school program. Brighter Beginnings Transitional Housing Program, 2012 Providing supportive housing, substance abuse counseling, and support groups to HIV + women transitioning into the community.
