BE United is an arts, cultural and social entrepreneurial organisation that advocates for, highlights, and celebrates African-Caribbean (Afrocentric) excellence in Scotland by providing a platform/voice for Scotland’s Afrocentric community. Since 2014, our 30 events and programmes have attracted over 25,000 spectators. We have produced 29 events & festivals, delivered 65 educational workshops to 20+ schools/youth groups across Scotland engaging 1500+ young people. Our vision is to successfully curate and manage a thriving Afrocentric arts and cultural hub – The BE Hive! We aim to be a creative and supportive platform that: (1) advocates for a community that sits at the margins of society – economically, culturally and politically; (2) educates and facilitates cross-cultural understanding and (3) inspires isolated members of the Afrocentric community to reconnect and be included in Scottish society.
