Founded in 1937, Birrfeld Airport has become the most important aviation and training center in the Canton Aargau. The central location at the highway junction Zurich-Bern-Basel (about 5 km south of Brugg) makes the airport a popular meeting place for pilots and visitors. The modern infrastructure with operations building, training and conference facilities, hangars, workshop and concrete runway enable professional year-round gliding and powered flight operations. Birrfeld Airport is home to the Birrfeld Flight School and various flying groups. Around 230 powered and glider aircraft have their home base at Birrfeld, from vintage to the most modern training aircraft.
