U.S. Forces Japan is headquartered at Yokota Air Base in Tokyo and is responsible for more than 154,000 US military personnel, civilians, contractors, and families. The staff includes about 160 military, DoD civilians, and Japanese national employees. USFJ focuses on war planning, conducts joint and bilateral exercises, administers the Status of Forces Agreement, improves combat readiness, and enhances the quality of life of military and DOD civilian personnel and their dependents.
