The Colombian Securities Exchange is a company that is listed in the securities market and manages securities trading platforms for the Equity, Fixed Income and Standardized Derivatives markets. Also, through branch offices which have been created as a result of strategic alliances with other companies, it operates the Energy Commodities and Foreign Exchange markets.
It had a total of 1,870 shareholders at the close of 2012, of which 22% were foreign investment funds.
The BVC is a strategic part of the local capital market value chain. Its main objective is to increase the number of products offered through strategic alliances within Colombia and abroad, thereby generating sustainable value for its shareholders.
Its medium-term corporate goals are focused on becoming the nation's leading stock trading forum, developing a securities platform with better and more securities issuers and through that platform permitting more investors to access a varied supply of securities products through a professional and high-standard industry.
In terms of international leadership, the BVC actively participates in industry forums organized by the Ibero American Federation of Stock Exchanges (FIAB) of which it is currently a permanent member and elected Vice President.
Additionally, it is a member of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), and it is part of the Latin American Integrated Market (MILA), along with the Santiago Stock Exchange, the Lima Stock Exchange and the central securities depositories of the three countries.
