For nearly 15 years, ABILITY Awareness has been working to build a world of inclusion for people with health conditions or disabilities. By creating highly visible opportunities for people with disabilities to showcase their skills and talents, ABILITY Awareness is committed to demonstrating their potential as volunteers, mentors and employees, while shattering age-old paradigms.
Since its founding in 1995, ABILITY Awareness has built homes from the West Coast to the East Coast, in the South and even in Hawaii. These builds have engaged thousands of volunteers with a full range of disabilities from diabetes or depression, to paraplegia, blindness, intellectual disabilities or mental health issues. Through ABILITY Builds, ABILITY Awareness is also raising awareness of the critical need for accessible low-income housing in the United States.
Although ABILITY Awareness’ office is located in Orange County, CA you can often find its staff in any one of the 50 states training construction personnel how to incorporate volunteers with disabilities in their builds, or giving informative training presentations for companies or conferences.
ABILITY Awareness is a non-profit corporation registered in California and is a public charity exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
