Atelier M Architects+Planners cv is a continuation of the Architectenbureau Jan Maenhout founded in 1984. Together with a team of architects and urban planners that has grown over the years, the firm incorporates several disciplines of design research.
As a multidisciplinary design team of young designers, supported by experienced architects, a permanent search for an interpretation of spatial context is undertaken for the elaboration of urban master planning and architectural projects of very different scales. All projects involve dialogue with the environment. The uniqueness of the firm lies not in the nature or size of the assignment, but rather in the spatial approach and the specific urban planning and architectural approach to each problem posed. A portfolio of building programs of different scales, diverse contexts, and various degrees of complexity filled with collective and social housing projects, family housing, schools, and care projects,... broaden the view of society, where architectural projects cross-pollinate the master plan projects.
The exponentially growing complexity of the architectural profession persuades the establishment of sustainable partnerships, where the pooling of diverse experiences and specializations enriches the work team and supports construction practice.
An optimal and contemporary spatial concept is sought for each assignment. Through a professional approach, functionality and feasibility are always linked to architectural innovation and spatial quality. The sustainability philosophy of Atelier M Architects+Planners bv. cvba is expressed in the master planning for ecological neighborhoods as well as the passive, low energy, and BEN housing projects.
