We have founded Youth with Disabilities Forum in Belgrade, in 2005, with an intention to:
Gather, Inform, Consult, and Raise the capacities of persons with disabilities, companies, and other interested entities operating in the territory of the Republic of Serbia, about hiring and working with people with disabilities, and creating inclusive society.
Our work contributes to the social inclusion of people with disabilities, advocacy, and promotion of human rights through the establishment of cross-sector partnerships, building and strengthening necessary human and other resources.
In recent years the position of people with disabilities in Serbia has been improving. However, they are still not equal to other citizens. People with disabilities are facing numerous obstacles in exercising their rights and are very often victims of discrimination in public services, as well as in their private lives. They are absent from decision-making positions and are almost invisible in media spheres.
Our organization's purpose is to build a society of equal and active citizens in which people with disabilities are empowered to live and make decisions independently according to their needs and resources.
We want to have an impact on society. Our goal is to change the perception of people with disabilities and consider them as the potential social capital of the community.
We have successfully implemented about 70 projects, with more than 3.000 direct users, which contribute to the development of an inclusive society from local to national levels.
