Southwind Rising Volleyball is a Junior Olympic Volleyball Club in the Kansas City area. Our club philosophy is “Integrity by design, Excellence through training”. Under the leadership of Rachel Magana, director, the club has sent 6 teams to the Junior Olympic National Championships (2007-2011). Southwind Rising has demonstrated a track record of developing competitive teams at both the National and Regional level. The club not only promotes excellent volleyball athletes but strives to ensure a well-rounded person by incorporating strong teamwork skills, leadership training and cultivating positive self-esteem.
With over 20 years experience in the field Rachel has developed techniques and drills to help advance athletes to an elite level of play. Southwind Rising is one of the only Junior Olympic clubs in the area that runs programs year round, our Club teams train and compete fall through spring. Our Summer Intensity Program increases athlete’s verticals, speed, and strength; while also working towards stronger skills and strategies of the game. The Fall Skills and Game Series Training is developed to work with athletes at any skill level.
Southwind Rising also works with various parks and recreation departments around the city to include Johnson County Parks and Recreation, Blue Valley Parks and Recreation, as well as other programs. Our relationships with these organizations include hosting fundamental camps, classes and clinics throughout the year.
