Hima Cement Ltd. is a subsidiary of Bamburi Cement Ltd. which is a member of the Holcim group.
The history of Hima Cement stretches back to 1994 when the Uganda government made a decision to privatize Uganda Cement Industries, forming two separate companies, one of which was Hima Cement. In 1999, the company was acquired by the Lafarge Group as a subsidiary of the Bamburi Cement Group of Kenya and Hima Cement Ltd was created.
Just two decades since Lafarge acquired Hima Cement Ltd, we have grown to become one of Uganda’s leading cement producers with a cement production capacity of 2.1 Million Tonnes from our three factories. In 2010, the company made an investment of US$120 million in a state-of-the-art, environment-friendly cement production line at the integrated Hima Plant in Kasese, increasing capacity to 0.9MT. In 2017, the Namanve Blending Station was commissioned with a capacity of 0.4 MT and in May 2018, the Tororo Grinding Station in the eastern Uganda town, with a production capacity of 0.8MT. Hima Cement supplies all regions across Uganda as well as the export markets of Southern Sudan and DRC.
