Safe, affordable housing is the key to building sustainable, inclusive, equitable, and livable communities. Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity (BRHFH), formerly Habitat for Humanity of Winchester-Frederick-Clarke, is in the unique position to help provide solutions to the affordable housing crisis. BRHFH is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization focused on building and rehabilitating homes. As a non-profit community housing development organization, understands the value of, and need for, affordable housing. As a regional Habitat affiliate, we have over 25 years of experience and have produced 84 homes within our expanded geographical service area. Currently, BRHFH has the infrastructure to build five homes per year and tackle roughly 12 Critical Home
Repair and Aging-In-Place Projects, partner with other nonprofits for expanded reach, and run a successful ReStore home improvement thrift store.
Every day, people in our community partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With our help, they achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build a better life for themselves and their families. Similarly, our clients help the community strengthen and stabilize. Today, Habitat's work continues to evolve as we expand interventions to create enabling environments where families can thrive.
In addition to providing direct housing support to individuals in
need, Blue Ridge Habitat has the ability and responsibility to promote concrete housing solutions, thereby ensuring more families maintain appropriate, quality affordable housing in the City of Winchester, Clarke County, Frederick County, and Shenandoah County while also creating more access to affordable housing stock within these communities.
