Caring Together in Hope, is a 501(c)(3) organization formed in honor of Carol Troxel Hammitt, a caregiver throughout her life as mother, daughter, sister, nurse and friend. Carol developed a virulent form of Lewy Body and Alzheimer's disease and passed away four months after her diagnosis. Carol's family gained a passion for those affected by Alzheimer's/dementia throughout her illness and understands the sacrifices that on makes as caregiver, in allowing one to remain at home. We endeavor to share what we have learned and assist others in order to reduce the caregiver's burden. Caring Together in Hope strives to alleviate a portion of the caregiver's burden and allow the caregiver to have time to care for him or herself; to provide meaningful companionship and activities with the family member affected by dementia while the caregiver is pursuing other activities; share our knowledge as caregivers with others to reduce their burden of caring for one with dementia at home; be a dedicated advocacy for the family care provider of an AD/dementia loved one; leverage the services currently offered by existing organizations for the benefit of the caregiver; and deliver interim care services in the AD/dementia client's home. Some say it takes a village to raise a child. We say it will take the entire Country to overcome the personal, physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial challenges that come with caring for a person with Alzheimer's or related dementia.
