Telling Alaska’s Story:
In many ways, our station's story parallels Alaska’s story: Humble beginnings, big ambitions, and the audacity to do something remarkable and distinctive. Both have been driven forward by determined people working together to accomplish a singular and bold vision. Both continue today, inspired by the fervent pioneer spirit of Alaska’s people and the vision of an exhilarating future.
The mission at KTUU/KYES is telling Alaska’s story. Since our first broadcast in 1953, we have become Alaska’s most watched and most trusted independent news source for breaking news, in-depth storytelling, complete sports coverage and accurate weather forecasts. Alaska's News Source produces 32 hours of broadcast news per week. Online, AlaskasNewSource.com is a digital news leader, and the station's CTV platforms and News and Weather apps are on the leading edge of mobile journalism. Strong reach and brand loyalty are augmented by added distribution to the state's capital and rural communities throughout Alaska. To cover news in a state as massive and diverse as Alaska, it takes a special commitment, and it's one we have taken very seriously for the past six decades.
