Navy Region Europe, Africa, Central (CNREURAFCENT) is charged with the complex mission of serving as the single advocate and functional locus for Navy Installations within its area of responsibility (AOR). The Region straddles the U.S. geographic combatant commands of European Command, Africa Command, and Central Command, areas that are confronted with the realities of combat, low-intensity conflict, hybrid war, humanitarian crisis, and counter terrorism.
Located in Naples, Italy, Region EURAFCENT encompasses a geographic area which spans across three continents, stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Arabian Gulf, and from Northern Europe into Africa. Comprised of nine installations that provide critical shore support to U.S. and allied operations, this expanse includes five critical choke points, including the Strait of Hormuz, the Suez Canal, the Strait of Gibraltar, and the Bosporus Strait.
Navy Region EURAFCENT is a component of Commander Navy Installations Command (CNIC), responsible for organizing, manning, training, and equipping Navy Base Operating Support functions and infrastructure within an area of operations. The Navy’s shore mission is to enable the warfighter, sustain the fleet, and support families living and working ashore around the globe.
