East Coast Community Healthcare CIC (ECCH) is a registered Community Interest company which is owned by its staff. We are a social enterprise, which means that although we operate like a commercial trading organisation, we do not distribute our profits to shareholders; instead we reinvest them for the benefit of our community in Great Yarmouth and Waveney.
We provide a range of NHS community health services, mainly for our local population of 230,000 from the areas around Great Yarmouth, Gorleston, Lowestoft and Waveney. These services include district nursing, health visiting, community in-patient services, physiotherapy, specialist nursing care, palliative care, a primary care centre, prison health services, contraceptive and sexual health services, school nursing and health improvement services such as our stop smoking team, our physical activity team and our health protection team. Our sexual health promotion team provides support across the whole of Norfolk as well as Waveney.
66% of our services are commissioned by NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group. Other commissioners include Norfolk and Suffolk County Councils, James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, NHS Norfolk and NHS Suffolk.
Prior to 1st October 2011 we were part of NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney. We applied to become an independent social enterprise so that we could take charge of our own destiny and make real improvements in services to patients.
