Save Ellis Island (SEI) is a registered 501©3 organization and partner of the National Park Service for the rehabilitation of the 29 mostly unrestored buildings comprising the Ellis Island Immigrant Hospital Complex on the South Side of Ellis Island. Founded in 1999, SEI is tasked with raising funds to preserve and rehabilitate the abandoned buildings where 1.2 million immigrants passed through. Ninety-minute educational Hard Hat Tours of the abandoned building are given by Save Ellis Island daily.
