STRUCTURAL EFFICIENCY AND RESILIENCE Structural efficiency can be defined in many ways, but we will try to optimise space utilisation within a building while keeping structural costs at the minimum. To make buildings resilient to major earthquakes, we design low-damage and damage-avoidance systems such as base isolation, hybrid dampers, buckling-restrained braces, rocking walls and frames and slip-friction connections. SEISMIC ASSESSMENTS AND RETROFIT DESIGN The consultancy also has a separate division: Tino Seismic. Using proprietary methods and unmatched expertise, Tino Seismic specialises in getting the most accurate and precise NBS ratings, and cost-effective and non-disruptive seismic strengthening solutions for New Zealand buildings. We have assessed and retrofitted more than 800 heritage and commercial buildings across New Zealand.
