Franklin County Government is located in south-central Pennsylvania. Established in 1784, the county is over 225 years old and is still growing. While considered rural, Franklin County’s urban population increases as more businesses open in Chambersburg, the county seat, and in our other population centers. Continued efforts toward downtown revitalization and community events attract visitors throughout the year.
Along with agriculture, community, and history, one of Franklin County’s greatest assets is its location. Only a drive away from five major cities: New York City (4 hours), Philadelphia (3 hours), Pittsburgh (3 hours), and Washington, DC/Baltimore (1.5 hours), residents enjoy the accessibility of big cities while living in a smaller town environment surrounded by rolling hills, forests, mountains, valleys and clear springs.
To best serve our growing population of 153,000 residents, Franklin County Government finds qualified and talented employees with a passion to make a difference and give back to the community.
Franklin County has both a strong history and promising future. Find out more about why Franklin County is a great place to live and work by visiting www.franklincountypa.gov.
