The SOM Institute has collected research data and presented annual trend analyses since 1986. The Institute’s analyses are often referred to in the public debate and are used to form many decisions that influence many aspects of society. The SOM Institute sees it as important that its analyses are made accessible to anybody interested in the findings.
Every year, the SOM Institute conducts a vast number of independent studies – nationally, regionally and locally – in an effort to identify changes in the ways Swedes behave and feel about different things and why the identified changes occur. A quarter of a century of work has resulted in a unique amount of comparable data on and analyses of the Swedish people – many time series stretch back to the first year of the surveys in 1986. Most SOM analyses have been published in various widely available publications.
