The Casa da Urra is located at the heart of a 180 – hectare estate near the picturesque hamlet of Urra, overlooking the delightful city of Portalegre. It is situated in an attractive location among vineyards, pasture for sheep and montado or dehesa landscape, in the Alto Alentejo region, not far from the Spanish frontier. The house, originally in a state of ruin, was completely renovated by a couple of art and lovers, doctors by profession.
The Casa da Urra wine-making undertaking, launched in 2007, was later extended to agritourist and wine tourism, offering a wide range of recreational and leisure activities: a pool with views of the city and the hills, a gym, a tennis court, a children’s playground, a library, a meeting room, a multi-purpose room, a picnic area, visits to vineyards, the orchards and the poultry fram, as well as hunting excursions, wine-tasting, horse-riding, rambling and cycling are just some of the options available.
