BASE 51 was founded as an innovative holistic health care project based in the City Centre of Nottingham, supporting young people aged between 11 - 25 years.
Base 51 opened in June 1993 as a drop-in centre offering a wide range of confidential support services and activities to meet the integrated health care needs of the young people living in Nottingham and surrounding areas.
BASE 51 takes a wide view of the health needs of young people and addresses the many aspects of a young person's life, which can affect their health and well-being. These can range from homelessness, difficulties in relationships, loss of statutory health care and low self esteem, to mental health problems, drug abuse and suicide.
Target groups are young people, who for a variety of reasons, find it difficult to access those services. Such groups of young people include; homeless young people, young people in or leaving care, young parents, young people with mental health problems, young offenders and young people who have experienced abuse.
Universal services offer young people a safe place to meet up with friends, have fun, learn new skills and join groups and programmes such as the Youth Forum, Senior Members programme, OutBurst ( LGBT group). Our skilled youth team integrate issue based workshops and themed programmes which may include : CSE awareness, C-Card, sexual health, diversity, life skills etc..
