In order to protect the integrity of the Korean financial system and to respond to calls from the international community, Korea Financial Intelligence Unit was established in 2001. As an organization within the Financial Services Commission, KoFIU is currently the primary government agency coordinating the Rupublic of Korea's AML/CFT policy.
