At Cedar Lake, our mission is to provide highly compassionate, capable care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, so they may experience a life of abundant possibilities. Our journey began in 1970 with the parents of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who asked the question, "What will happen to our children after we're gone?"
Over 50 years later Cedar Lake is still answering this community's need by offering a variety of housing and programmatic services including Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs), 24-hour staffed group homes and 3-person homes, 12-hour supported homes, 24-hour supported apartments and intermittent support apartments. We’ve come a long way since the first facility, Cedar Lake Lodge, opened in 1974 and served five residents. Today, Cedar Lake operates more than 30 locations across Jefferson, Oldham and Henry counties providing assistance to over 250 individuals annually.
As Kentucky’s only organization with state licensure/certification for ICF/MR, Medicaid waiver and Community Home services, Cedar Lake provides the broadest array of housing options and support services of any provider in Kentucky. Cedar Lake’s services include occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy and recreation therapy; nursing services, psychological services, social services, vocational training and development of skills for daily living through educational programs.
