Simon's Heart was founded in 2005 in memory of Simon Sudman. He was three month's old when he died. The family was encouraged to get their hearts checked because "babies just don't die." Phyllis, Simon's mom, was diagnosed with Long QT Syndrome, an arrhythmia that is linked to up to 15% of all SIDS deaths. It is also one of several conditions that take the lives of thousands of children every year.
Sudden cardiac arrest is not just an adult thing. It is the #1 cause of death of student athletes. Simon's Heart prevents sudden cardiac arrest through a variety of preventative, protective and legislative lifesaving initiatives.
