Good Food Oxfordshire is a network of over 140 businesses, charities and community groups working together for a healthier, fairer and more sustainable food system for Oxfordshire for all. GFO supports initiatives that increase the beneficial outcomes from our food system and encourages more joined-up thinking, research and policy around food issues.
We have developed the Oxfordshire Good Food Charter - our city’s statement of vision for a vibrant, healthy and sustainable food system. All our members have signed the Charter, pledging to make changes towards a better food system.
We focus on three areas: good food businesses, good food for all, and reducing food waste. We deliver workshops, consultancy, events and networking for our members, including a 10-day Pumpkin Festival. Here's a flavour of what we have achieved:
- published a report on food poverty
- helped establish Oxfordshire’s Catering & Procurement Working Group
- support Oxford's Sugar Smart campaign
- succeeded in getting a sustainable restaurant category included in the annual Oxfordshire Restaurant Awards.
All of Oxfordshire’s activities for better food were evidenced and rewarded in our receiving the Sustainable Food Cities Bronze Award for Oxford in 2018 and the Sustainable Food Places Bronze Award for Oxfordshire in 2021.
