Since 1999, Austin-based Superior HealthPlan has provided quality, affordable health coverage to communities across Texas. As part of the Centene Corporation family, Superior now employs more than 3,000 people across the state and offers nine products to 2 million members.
No matter how much we grow, our purpose remains the same: transforming the health of Texas communities, one person at a time. We achieve this through a commitment to three brand pillars:
Whole Health - Our programs focus on mental and physical wellness to provide our members access to the personalized help they need. It’s why Superior has been among the top-rated Medicaid health plans in Texas for 6 straight years, earning a score of 3.5 or higher on a 5.0 scale on the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Medicaid Health Insurance Plan Ratings. This includes a score of 3.5 for 2022.
Focus on the Individual - We provide the tools and information our members need to build healthy habits that last a lifetime. See exactly how this approach makes a difference at www.SuperiorHealthPlan.com/membersfirst.
Active Local Involvement - Superior is proud to support grassroots organizations in our own backyard through fundraising and volunteering. For example, our dedicated community team organized or attended more than 1,100 events in 2022 to support low-income families and neighborhoods. It’s how we help our neighbors build a stronger, healthier future.
In partnership with Texas Health and Human Services (HHS), Superior provides health care to individuals who are underserved in all 254 Texas counties. This includes becoming the first managed organization in the country to offer coverage to children in foster care through STAR Health, a program managed by Superior since 2008. Additionally, Superior offers STAR, CHIP, CHIP Perinate, STAR+PLUS and STAR Kids. The company also delivers health care through Medicare, STAR+PLUS Medicare-Medicaid Plan (MMP) and the Health Insurance Marketplace.
