The California Geological Survey (CGS) is a government agency dedicated to providing scientific products and services about the state's geology, seismology and mineral resources including their related hazards, that affect the health, safety, and business interests of the people of California.
The CGS strives to be regarded as the primary source of geological and seismological information for decision making by California's government agencies, its businesses, and the public.
The CGS is a division of the California Department of Conservation @CalConservation.
