Savera UK is a leading charity working to end ‘honour’-based abuse (HBA) and harmful practices. It provides life-saving services to those at risk, regardless of age, culture, sexuality or gender.
‘Savera’ means ‘new beginning’ in Hindi, a theme that is symbolic of the support the charity provides to those who are at risk of harmful practices. Since launching its one-to-one service in 2017, Savera UK has supported hundreds of clients out of abusive environments into their ‘Savera’. We help survivors of ‘honour’-based abuse and harmful practices to rebuild their lives with emotional and practical support, helping them to gain economic independence and move forward into their future with confidence.
As well as providing holistic support, Savera UK campaigns to eliminate harmful practices by raising awareness. The charity speaks out to challenge harmful attitudes, prejudice and practices that violate individual human rights and educate and empower others so they can join our fight. We contribute to research, provide consultancy and deliver training to raise awareness of harmful practices and their signs among people outside of at-risk communities. We also campaign to encourage everyone to recognise and report instances of ‘honour’-based violence and abuse.
Join our campaign and help us end HBA and harmful practices for good.
