Founded in 1954, BURGER KING® is the second largest fast food hamburger chain in the world. The original Home of The Whopper®, the Burger King system operates more than 18,800 locations in more than 100 countries and U.S. territories.
The brand aims for product quality leadership thanks to a unique concept: flame-grilled beef, fresh ingredients, generous burgers, infinitely customisable, and above all our iconic product, the WHOPPER®. That and the daily commitment of our employees have contributed to more than 50 years of our brands success.
BKTL Holding was founded in 2014 and had been the largest Burger King franchisee in Switzerland until 2020. In July 2020, the name was changed to BKCH Holding SA. The BKCH Group became the Master Franchisee and from that time onwards all restaurants in Switzerland were operated by BKCH Holding SA, under CEO Nils Engel. Many years of experience in the QSR industry and the support of the team, has strongly contributed to the successful development of the BKCH Holding SA, which today leads more than 600 employees.
The new franchise agreement will allow more consistency across all restaurants, a more efficient way to address local business opportunities as well as more proximity to Swiss customers. BKCH plans to significantly increase the number of Burger King restaurants and create a significant number of jobs locally.
Furthermore, Burger King is continuously working on solutions to diminish the impact on our environment and it is our goal to further improve the quality of our products every day. For example, our iconic flamed-grilled Whopper® sandwich is free of preservatives, colors and flavors from artificial sources. The brand has set itself the goal of removing preservatives, colorants and flavors from artificial sources from all Burger King® food in Switzerland by end of 2020.
